Biography :

In 1984, Professor Weiss left the position of associate general counsel of the United Auto Workers to join the University of Maryland as associate professor of law. Weiss had worked in the UAW Legal Department since her graduation from Harvard Law School. Professor Weiss spent her sabbatical leave in 1993–94, as a visiting professor at the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law, in Budapest, Hungary, and returned there as a Visiting Fulbright Lecturer for the spring semester, 1997. Professor Weiss served as Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee to the U.S. National Administrative Office for the NAFTA Labor Side Agreement from 1994-2001. In 1996-1997, she served as Secretary-elect, and in 1997-1998, as Secretary, of the American Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law.
